About Course

Course Description

The purpose of this online course is to enhance the knowledge and expertise of clinicians and related professionals who are working with patients who suffers from various types of dementia. The course will provide an overview and current knowledge for management of different types of dementia based on current best practice guidelines. We will use an active learning approach through live interactive sessions and discussions. This program will complement training for general practitioners, neurologists, and psychiatrists to bridge the gap of dementia care, especially in underserved areas of Pakistan.  

Objectives:

At the end of the course, the participants will be able to:

  1. Know the etiology, presentation, and diagnostic approaches to dementia.
  2. Know Alzheimer’s Dementia - pathophysiology and Management.
  3. Know Differential Diagnosis of Dementia
  4. Know Management of Behavioral and Psychiatric Symptoms of Dementia
  5. Know the Recent advances in treatment and Research of Dementia
  6. Understand Multidisciplinary Approach to Dementia Care and Ethical issues.


Mode of Delivery: The sessions will be delivered through Zoom with the ability to view the content later online for self-paced learning.

Target Audience: 

Primary: Primary care and specialty physicians – General Practitioners, Neurologists, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, and related mental health practitioners currently working with patients suffering from dementia disorders. 

Secondary: Residents, Fellows, and Medical Students

Assessment Method:

Each participant registered in the certificate program will be asked to take multiple-choice questions at the end of the course. 60% pass rate will be required to receive the certificate.

Course Outline:

The course will be delivered primarily on alternate Saturdays during month of June and July total of 7 sessions. Each presentation will be about 40 minutes followed by a QA session for 20 minutes.
